Herb Rubenstein

President and Chairman of the Board

Herb Rubenstein is the president of Herb Rubenstein Consulting. Previously he was a candidate for Congress in Colorado and worked for 28 years in Washington, DC as a business consultant, lawyer, government policy specialist and author. He is the co-author of the Financial Times business book, Breakthrough, Inc.: High Growth Strategies for Entrepreneurial Organizations, the author of the American Bar Association's Leadership for Lawyers, and has taught entrepreneurship at Colorado State University, strategic planning in the MBA program at George Washington University, and taught leadership courses at several universities. He is the author of over 100 articles on entrepreneurship, strategic planning, leadership, and communication.

Herb is a Phi Beta Kappa/Omicron Delta Kappa graduate in Politics and Economics from Washington and Lee University where he was Chair of the Student Curriculum Committee and Captain of the Golf Team. He was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar at the University of Bristol in Bristol, England and the Lyndon B. Johnson Scholar at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. His law degree is from Georgetown University. His expertise is business and strategic planning for businesses and large nonprofits focusing on every major aspect of the company and its operations, metrics, and its ability to absorb and manage change.

Barrett Blank

Director of Sales

Barrett Blank is the Director of Sales for Herb Rubenstein Consulting and a member of the Executive Committee. He has leveraged his 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, technology, process, and business operations to take the leadership roles of:

  • nexTIER Sales - A solutions firm focused on delivering integrated marketing and sales excellence via Customer Relationship Mgt (CRM) tools and processes.
  • BB2e.com - A full service web and applications development firm focused on enhancing online revenue and qualified lead generation.
  • Bright Green Technologies - A solutions firm developing sustainable businesses through the effective use of online technologies.

Barrett has served as a sales and marketing executive with Commerce One, Procurepoint, Computer Associates, and eCentral, where he has led teams that have delivered cutting edge technology solutions that resulted in significant increases in sales, reductions in operating expenses, and streamlining of business processes.

He has also been an executive with Sedgwick/Marsh and the Chubb Group.
Barrett and his family are active in the community with organizations including the United Way, Jewish Family and Children Services, Red Cross, South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, and the Rockies Venture Club.

Barrett earned a B.S. degree in Marketing from Lehigh University.

Buddy Noel

General Counsel and Member, Board of Directors

Mr. Noel began his law career at Holme Roberts & Owen, becoming the first African American partner among Denver's 17th Street law firms. In 1992 Mr. Noel took a three-year leave from the practice of law to be the President and CEO of the Colorado Sports Council, a nonprofit community sports development corporation he helped found, which among other things, bid for the Winter Olympic Games and World Cup Soccer and hosted the 1995 U.S. Olympic Festival. Thereafter he continued his law practice with the law firm of Sherman & Howard from 1995 until the fall of 2002, when he opened The Noel Law Office, LLC, specializing in commercial litigation, employment law, general business law, real estate law and sports law. He has practice affiliations with Ross Law, LLC for business projects and Godfrey & Lapuyade, LLC for litigation projects.

Mr. Noel has served on the boards for some of Colorado's most significant institutions over the years, including being a board of member of (1) business boards and commissions: United Banks of Aurora and Monaco, Banc One Colorado Corporation, Bank One Denver, Governor's Blue Ribbon Panel; Colorado Economic Development Commission; Colorado Regulatory Review Commission; Greater Denver Chamber of Commerce; Greater Denver Corporation; Rocky Mountain Minority Suppliers Development Council and the Colorado Forum; (2) education boards: Board President for the State Board of Agriculture, the governing board for Colorado State University, Fort Lewis College and the University of Southern Colorado, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College Board of Overseers and Colorado Commission on Higher Education; and (3) sports and community boards: President & CEO of Colorado Sports Council, Colorado Golf Association, Colorado Outward Bound School, Denver Metro Sports Commission, Sportswomen of Colorado, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Denver, Inc. and Dean's Advisory Council for University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Sherry Fox

Member of the Board of Directors

Sherry Fox is a member of the Board of Directors of Herb Rubenstein Consulting. She is the co-founder, president and CEO of BioCare Systems, Inc., a company founded to design, develop and market new and innovative health-care services and devices. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's product development, distribution, marketing and sales, financial operations and investor relations.

With more than 30 years of experience in direct-to-consumer product sales and business-to-business services, Ms. Fox is recognized as an innovative leader in companies known for the integrity of their products, management approach and overall organizational effectiveness. She has been a founder, owner and partner in three successful start-up companies.

Ms. Fox serves as a member of the Colorado Bioscience Association (CBSA), the Bio Entrepreneurs Club, the Colorado Photonics Industry Association (CPIA) and the North American Association for Laser Therapy (NAALT). An accomplished speaker and presenter, she is frequently asked to address local, regional and national organizations on a variety of subjects. She has a passion for mentoring women entrepreneurs for success and making a difference in the community.

Ms. Fox received a B.S. in accounting from the University of Texas, Austin, and an M.B.A. from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth.

Nina Di Rupp

Member of the Board of Directors, International Trade Consultant

Born in Beijing, and raised in Nanjing, China, Ms Rupp attended and worked at the Chinese National Academy of Sciences and is fluent in Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and English. Nina is the CEO of Marble Empire, Inc. which specializes in importing and installing natural stone projects. She has completed construction contracts with several hotels, some of these projects include: The Hyatt Hotel, The Marriott, The Warwick Hotel, and Timber Lodge Suits. She is currently working on several other large international business opportunities.

She is a joint venture partner of Shanxi Evergreen Stone, Ltd. in China. This company is the largest granite quarry of Verde Butterfly granite and specializes in extracting natural stone.

As a Representative of The USA, she participated in the World Urban Forum 4, organized by UN Habitat. Ms. Rupp brings 25 years of experience in International trading and connecting business leaders around the world. She is actively involved in community organizations and has helped with Arvada Sister City International to establish relations between Arvada, Colorado and Jinzhou, China. As a result, they are now recognized as International Sister Cities.

Michael J. Orlando, Ph.D, MBA

Chief Economist and Member, Board of Directors

Michael is Chief Economist for Sustainable Business Group. He is Principal and Owner of Economic Advisors, Inc. in Denver, and Adjunct Professor of Finance at Tulane University.

Michael began his career with Shell Oil Company. He provided reservoir engineering, economic evaluation, and environmental compliance expertise for oil and gas exploration and development projects in the Gulf of Mexico.

He later served as a Research Economist in the Federal Reserve System, and then as Vice President and Branch Executive of the Fed's Denver Branch. He was responsible for regional economic research, energy markets analysis, policy advising, and public communication.

Michael also served as Vice President for Research and Product Development with evolve24, LLC, where he developed and validated algorithms for quantifying media content.

Michael's research spans a range of topics in applied microeconomics. He has published work on the economics of payments networks, corporate governance, financial regulatory policy, the geography and industrial demography of innovation, energy, and environmental policy. He is an adjunct faculty member of finance and has co-authored a textbook on money and banking.

Michael holds degrees in economics from Washington University in St. Louis, business administration from Tulane University, and petroleum and natural gas engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.

Tim Matanovich

Senior Pricing and Business Strategy Specialist

Tim Matanovich is "The Pricing Guy", a nickname he received because of his persistent commitment to improving business performance through a focus on value and pricing. Tim has been a business leader, speaker and consultant in pricing since 1993, and is currently president of Value and Pricing Consultants. Tim leads the Market Focused Pricing seminar series for the American Marketing Association and is an Expert Alliance Partner at the Technical Professional Services Association.

From 2006 - 2009 Tim was Vice President, Strategic Pricing and Value at The TriZetto Group. TriZetto is a $500M growth company, providing IT solutions in healthcare. In his role as Vice President, Tim worked with product management to quantify value and define pricing strategies. He developed incentive programs to reward pricing excellence, demonstrated the cost of undisciplined pricing behaviors and introduced processes and programs that reduced discounting by half.

Prior to joining TriZetto, Tim was General Partner at Market Leaders Group LLC, and a Senior Consultant with StratX. In these capacities Tim consulted worldwide to help business leaders increase returns for shareholders and reduce business risk. Among others, Tim has worked with GE, DuPont, Ericsson, PPG, VHA, Hercules and First Data Corporation.

He has published approximately 25 articles on pricing topics. He has been an adjunct faculty member with the Institute for Study of Business Markets at Penn State, the Center for Services Leadership at Arizona State and at Regis University. He has also spoken at a host of professional conferences in his areas of expertise.

Tim earned his BA in English and Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA, also from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Laurie Bassi

Laurie BassiHuman Capital Analytics Manager

Dr. Bassi leads all Sustainable Business Group activities in the area of improving the management and development of the work forces of our clients. As a former V.P. of the American Society for Training and Development, and an econometrician, she is a world renowned expert in the field of human capital. She is the CEO and a co-founder of McBassi & Company and Chair of the Board at Bassi Investments, Inc., a company that makes its investment decisions based on proprietary data that it collects from companies on it human capital practices.

The goal of human capital analysis, employee surveys, and systematic information flows from employees to management is improving long range organizational performance through the design and proper execution of targeted, cost-effective strategies for managing and developing employees at every level of the organization.

Prior to launching McBassi & Company, Laurie served as the director of research for Saba Software and for 15 years was a professor of economics and public policy at Georgetown University.

Dr. Bassi has authored over 70 published papers and books, and is a sought-after speaker both domestically and internationally. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University, a M.S. in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University, and a B.S. in mathematics from Illinois State University.

Brent Green

Brent GreenMarketing Director

Brent Green consults in marketing and communications for Sustainable Business Group and is a member of the Executive Committee. He is a marketing communication strategist, creative director, copywriter, author, speaker, trainer, and consultant focused on Baby Boomers and generational marketing. He is author of Marketing to Leading-Edge Baby Boomers: Perceptions, Principles, Practices, Predictions (Paramount Market Books, 2005 HC and 2006 PB).

Mr. Green is the owner of Brent Green & Associates, Inc., an integrated marketing communication firm. The firm has received over 50 regional, national, and international awards for creative and strategic excellence. The firm has produced programs for a diverse range of clients, including The Broadmoor, Total Petroleum, Orange Glo International (OxiClean brand), McDonald's, Blue Cross Blue Shield, the American Water Works Association, the General Merchandise Distributors Council, the American Numismatic Association, Men's Fitness magazine, Rodale's Best Life and Men's Health magazines, Experimental & Applied Sciences (EAS), FrontRange Solutions, Hewlett-Packard, and the United States Olympic Committee.

Brent has served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau and as a board member for Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain, Inc. He is also on the Leadership Council of the Business Forum on Aging for the American Society on Aging, and he is a strategic advisor for the Institute for the Future and its project to map the next 20 years of the Baby Boomer generation.

Brent earned his BA and MA in Counseling psychology, at KU Lawrence, Kansas, and his Masters in Marketing Communications from DU, Denver, CO. He also completed selected courses in film and media production at the Colorado Film School.

Lou Riverso

Lou RiversoOperations Director

Lou Riverso is Director of Operations and a member of Sustainable Business Group's Executive Committee. She is the founder and president of Lou Riverso, The Associate, Inc., a consulting firm providing strategies for small business success with an emphasis in planning, operations and procedures.

Ms. Riverso's experiences cover a broad spectrum of industries including service, retail, and medical. She has owned and operated a large garden center, and was the administrator for an international franchise organization. She has a well documented and unusually strong record of success in small business development and growth.

Lou has served as a member of the Board and past president of the West Chamber Serving Jefferson County, a member of Citywide Bank Board of Advisors and has served on many community boards including the Lakewood Legacy and Kiwanis Club.

Lou has BA from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia and MA from Michigan State University. She also has certifications in facilitation and leadership training. Lou is experienced in working with entrepreneurs, start up businesses, as well as mid-sized companies and nonprofits.

Lynn Hirshman

Lynn HirshmanDirector of Publications

Lynn Hirshman is Director of Publications and a member of Sustainable Business Group's Executive Committee. She began her career as a writer, editor, and university teacher and administrator. After years of successfully teaching and then managing college and university programs - including four years as Director of two schools of social work in Canada's North - she made the transition to program management, and led two highly successful Departments of Human Services, one in the Canadian Arctic and one in Colorado.

In 2007, Lynn made the switch from human services to renewable energy, and served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association (CoSEIA), where she was an active partner in the development and implementation of the Governor's Energy Office Solar Incentive Program that has put more than $2 million into funding for the New Energy Economy. During her tenure with CoSEIA, she brought the organization into partnership with other organizations in the renewable energy field, including iCAST, NREL, Solar Alliance, Apollo Alliance, Interwest Energy Alliance, the Smart Energy Living Alliance, Environment Colorado, and Western Resource Advocates. Lynn Lynn earned her Bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing, and her Master's in Psychology.

Theresa M. Szczurek, Ph.D.

Theresa SzczurekSenior Strategic Planning Consultant

Theresa directs strategic planning for Sustainable Business Group. Through her consulting firm Technology and Management Solutions, LLC, she helps ventures and leaders produce extraordinary results. Working over the last 25 years with established and emerging organizations in strategic planning/execution, worldwide marketing, sales, and economic development, and organization/leadership development, she generates creative solutions and reenergizes business plans, implementation programs, and workforces to improve the triple bottom-line. As a management consultant and process facilitator, she uses her skills in growing organizations to help clients build revenues, transform customers into loyal champions, and attract and retain a passionate workforce.

Theresa co-founded, built, and then sold Radish Communications Systems for over $40 million, a company that increased the efficiency and value of telephone computer transactions. For five consequent years, she was in Denver Business Journal's Who's Who in Tech and Telecom. She developed a feasibility analysis for a Technology Business Incubator in the City of Westminster, Colorado and has helped Poland's highest government and business leaders explore business incubation as a means to create jobs and stimulate the economy. For her passionate work to help entrepreneurs, she received the Colorado Technology Incubator (now known as CTEK) Model of Excellence and Board Member Service Awards.

Her newest book, Pursuit of Passionate Purpose (Wiley), is an Amazon #4 business bestseller. She co-authored Financing High Technology Ventures with executives from the Polish Chamber of Commerce. Her first book is Champions of Technological Change: How Organizations Successfully Implement New Technology.

Theresa's clients include Rocky Flats Local Impact Initiative, Boulder Technology Incubator, Xilinx, OfficeMax, Saltwater Institute, many businesses, government agencies, and non-profits. She holds a M.S. in Operations Research from Stanford University and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado.

Rick Lawton

Rick LawtonSenior Operations Specialist

Rick consults for Sustainable Business Group helping businesses with operation, environmental and energy related matters, and land use assistance. He is Principal of Lawton Consulting, LLC which consults in process development, strategic and business planning, land development, and project management.

Rick started his professional career in environmental protection and compliance. His expertise is in the handling and disposal of hazardous and radioactive waste and the reclamation of drastically disturbed lands. He has considerable experience testifying as an expert witness in civil and criminal proceedings.

Rick has a number of years of experience in management of manufacturing and construction companies with P&L responsibility for numerous organizations. He has been directly responsible for radioactive and hazardous waste management in several organizations including the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Facility in Colorado and has extensive experience in drastically disturbed land reclamation.

In the late 1980s, Rick moved into manufacturing and managed coated products plants in New York, Nebraska, and New Hampshire. These were organized labor shops and included the IBEW, IAM, IBC, and Paperworkers. He had P&L responsibility that included sales, customer service, operations and facilities.

In 1995, Rick joined a construction firm in Boulder, CO and was responsible for Continuous Improvement Programs, Strategic and Business Planning and HR. Upon purchase of the company by a national consolidator, he worked on merging operations across the western U.S. and was responsible for guiding business units through the transitions of a subsequent Chapter 11 bankruptcy by the national consolidator.

He serves or has served on the Boards of ProLiteracy Worldwide, the Wyoming Community Foundation and the MiCasa Resource Center for Women.

Rick earned his M.S. in Soil Science, and B.S. in Forest Science from Utah State University, and is currently working on an M.E. in Engineering Management at CU, Boulder.

Heather Gallien

Heather GallienSenior Marketing Specialist

Heather Gallien is Sustainable Business Group's Marketing Consultant. She consults in marketing, advertising, and public relations. She founded and operated her own full-service advertising agency, Idée-Force, for several years in Denver and has been in marketing for fifteen years and has served as the chief architect of many sophisticated marketing programs. She specializes in helping helps companies, nonprofits, and government agencies improve their image, gain visibility, generate sales leads, and achieve their business objectives.

Heather is an expert at strategically integrating both traditional advertising and nontraditional Internet marketing methodologies for every size budget. She has won over twenty marketing and business awards in less then five years. Prior to founding, Heather served in high-level account director positions with ad agencies including Leopard Communications, GD&A Advertising, and Heinrich Marketing. In 2007, Heather won the NAWBO Jean Yancey Small Business Award at the Denver Business Journal Outstanding Women in Business Awards as well as the Trailblazer Award at the Women of Achievement Awards sponsored by the Association for Women in Communications. In 2006, Heather was featured on the cover of ColoradoBiz magazine as part of their lead story.

Heather earned her BS in Communication from Indiana University.

Michael Jones

Michael JonesSenior Software Engineer and Entrepreneurial Advisor

Michael leads several efforts for Sustainable Business Group related to engineering management, project management, entrepreneurship, and data analysis. Michael is an experienced senior executive with a twenty-five year track record of results in the semiconductor and automatic test equipment industry. He possesses broad experience in hardware/software engineering management, project management and outsourcing, data analysis, customer relationship management, marketing strategy, and corporate governance. Michael has worked as both a buyer and seller of electronic equipment and software, giving him a dual perspective of the customer/vendor relationship. Michael is an entrepreneur with experience at multiple start-ups, and is the founder of Proclivis Information Technology and co-founder of Focused Test Inc.

Michael Jones is an adjunct professor of statistics at the University of Denver. He is on the board of directors of Focused Test Inc. and is President and Owner of Proclivis Information Technology. Michael is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Business Marketing Association, The Indus Entrepreneurs, and Peak Venture Group.

Mary Wilson Callahan

Mary Wilson CallahanSenior Organizational Development Specialist

Mary consults for Sustainable Business Group in organizational development and is a member of Sustainable Business Group's Executive Committee. She has developed a special expertise at the intersection of organizational strategies, agile business processes, and economic development activities. Mary is a researcher, writer, and trainer with extensive experience in the trenches of the business world. She enjoyed a 25-year career in information systems, manufacturing, marketing, and finance roles in major computer manufacturing and software organizations.

Mary has designed and managed projects for a variety of clients. She created the long-term vision for the Arvada Enterprise Center, and helped develop and impellent its marketing, funding, partnership, and implementation plans. She has vast experience providing consulting to businesses. She was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Business Incubator Association driving the development of CBIA's business plan.

Mary designed and piloted CEO 101, a business plan and presentation curriculum for entrepreneurial women. As President of the Board of Trustees of the Colorado Business and Professional Women's Education Foundation (CBPWEF), she re-positioned the organization for greater operational focus and effectiveness.

Mary earned her Ph.D in Adult Learning and Organization Development from the University of Georgia, her M.B.A. from Babson, and her B.A. from Stanford.

Wayne L. Anderson

Wayne L AndersonStrategic Planning/Leadership Consultant

Mr. Anderson is the President, Chief Strategist and founder of Anderson Professional Systems Group, LLC. In addition, he is an Executive Leadership Coach with the Leadership Science Institute, LLC. He is a senior executive with equal blend of technical, business and managerial skills developed during experience with several "Fortune 500" companies. He is a results oriented executive with an expertise in leading edge leadership techniques used to development the long and short range goals of his client companies. He has extensive experience in managing multi-million dollar budgets and large professional staffs. He also has the unique ability to help his clients attract, retain and motivate outstanding management and professional personnel.

Mr. Anderson is a member of the Board of Directors of the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce. He holds the position of Chairman, Strategic Planning Committee. In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor in Business and Management at Front Range Community College in Westminster, Colorado.

Mr. Anderson is a member of the World Coaches Federation; the American Speakers Association; the Association for Strategic Planning; and the World Speakers Association. In addition, he holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certificate.

Mr. Anderson is the author of the books, "Unwrapping the CIO: Demystifying the Chief Information Officer Position" (iUniverse Publishing: September, 2006) and "Powerful People Are Powerful IT Professionals: Your Daily Guide to Becoming a Powerful Information Systems Person" (iUniverse Publishing: January, 2007).

Mr. Anderson holds degrees in Organizational Leadership, Information Technology and General Business. He has an honorable discharge from the United States Navy.

Joel S. Leventhal, Ph.D

Joel S LeventhalChief Scientist

Joel has more than 35 years experience as an Earth scientist engaged in research, management, consulting and teaching. His projects have varied from mineral and energy resources to environmental geochemistry and global climate change. He is the author of over 100 reports and publications and over 50 abstracts.

Since retiring from U.S.G.S., after 24 years of service, he has consulted for industry, taught the course "Science Behind Global Change" at the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Denver, edited a textbook, participated in an Ocean Drilling Program research cruise in the South China Sea, and been a consultant with the National Renewable Energy Lab.

He has worked on projects including soil organic carbon and carbon sequestration (including laboratory experiments and analysis of soil organic matter), renewable energy, and green chemistry. He is citizen activist and lobbyist in statistical, legislative and legal aspects for public election integrity, financing and management.

He received his Master's and Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the University of Tucson and has been a Fellow at the Bighorn Center for Leadership and Public Policy.

E. David Beaty, Jr., Ph.D.

David consults for Sustainable Business Group as a senior-level research and marketing professional with 33 years of business-to-business, business-to-consumer market research and applied academic research experience. This expertise includes key strategic elements of market planning and analysis, and research in support of strategic and conceptual development and product research.

David founded Beaty & Associates, Inc. (BAI) in 1989. BAI provides information, analysis and direction to management. The primary emphasis is on strategic planning and marketing research. Areas of major concentration include health care/medical, hi-tech/bio-medical, and automotive for national and international corporations.

David was Director of Market Research and Business Analysis for Citicorp Retail Services (CRS). His responsibilities included planning, development and management of all market research, management information system reporting, and marketing database development for CRS.

Before Citicorp, Dr. Beaty was the Director of Market Research and Information Services for the United Banks of Colorado. His responsibilities included the management of three departments charged with the following responsibilities: the development and implementation of all market, consumer, product development and advertising research for the 31 bank holding companies and the lead bank.

He has been an assistant professor and faculty member of The University of Colorado at Boulder, The University of Wisconsin at White Water, and The Colorado Graduate School of Banking.

David holds a Ph.D. in Social Personality Psychology from the University of Colorado where he was a four-year National Institution of Mental Health (NIMH) Fellow. He was graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pennsylvania State University.

Michael D. Zeitlin

Michael ZeitlinSenior Business Finance Specialist

Michael consults for sustainable Business Group on accounting and finance. Michael is a Certified Public Accountant in practice since 1978 and has extensive experience in accounting and taxation matters. Michael is the owner of Zeitlin & Associates, CPAs and has been an owner in CPA firms from 1982 until the present day. Michael wrote and taught a course for many years at the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program on Business Valuation Tax Issues.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants ("CSCPA"). Michael received a CPAs Who Make a Difference, 2008 Heroes & Heroines award for community service from the CSCPA. He is a Life Member of the Denver Estate Planning Council and President of the Autism Society of Colorado.

Michael earned his accounting degree at the University of Colorado and he has a Masters degree in Taxation from the University of Denver.

Rebecca English

Rebecca EnglishSenior Sustainability Specialist

Rebecca "Becky" English is a sustainability consultant for Sustainable Business Group and a member of the Executive Committee. She brings senior-level experience in environmental compliance, public policy, marketing, communications, and training to her work helping businesses to compete successfully in the carbon-constrained global economy. She assists firms to align their business strategies with leadership's most profound sustainability values, despite current upheavals in the financial, technical, and regulatory environments. Through developing plans with boards, senior management, and key personnel, Becky works with companies to move from sustainability awareness to fully integrated best practices, providing significant competitive advantage.

Becky facilitates implementation of various existing sustainable practices templates, or, if more sophisticated dynamic system analysis is required, she can engage management in preparation of custom mathematical simulation models to facilitate decision making. Implementation includes measurement and disclosure of the firm's carbon footprint, and creating sustainability across all operations and functions, and throughout the supply chain.

Becky serves on Sierra Club's Colorado executive committee, and chairs the Energy Committee for the Rocky Mountain Chapter. She develops public policy with representatives from business, NGOs, regulatory bodies, utilities, and government. She provides services to a number of civic and environmental organizations.

Becky earned her M.A. from the University of Utah in Journalism & Mass Communications and B.A. from the University of Colorado (Boulder) in Communication.

Thomas P. Raabe

Thomas RaabeEnergy and Engineering Director

Thomas P. Raabe consults for Sustainable Business Group in the area of entrepreneurship. He is a lawyer and entrepreneur specializing in traditional alternative and renewable energy, minerals, environmental remediation, corporate and securities law. Since 1981, when he graduated from University of Denver College of Law, he has operated a sophisticated law and business development consulting practice with clients in numerous states. Simultaneous with his law degree, he undertook post graduate study in the Mineral Economics PhD Program at the Colorado School of Mines which he completed all but his dissertation in 1982.

Since 2003, Thomas has focused on developing technologies and project finance for various energy related opportunities including privately funded oil and gas and alternative energy ventures and international banking and technology joint ventures. He is active in promoting Clean-Tech in Colorado and various organizations for technology and energy businesses including CTEK, CORE, the Clean-Tech Initiative and others.

Richard Eidlin

Richard EidlinFor the past twenty years, Richard has focused on business strategy, program development, and policy analysis in the clean energy industry. He has worked in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, helping clean energy technologies to succeed. His experience in the renewable energy industry includes working for several leading solar energy system integrators.

As a consultant to the Apollo Alliance, Richard has been responsible for recruiting hundreds of private companies to support Apollo's federal and state clean energy-good jobs policy initiatives. As a staff member at the UN Environment Programme from 1989-1993, Richard directed a series of conferences that brought together private firms, NGOs, U.N. agencies and national and local governments to develop sustainable development programs. Richard worked for NYC government as a senior policy analyst and consulted to national environmental organizations, CH2MHill and the World Bank. Richard's was an adjunct faculty member with Boston College's Center for Corporate Citizenship for five years.

He consulted on renewable energy issues to candidate (and now Governor) Bill Ritter of Colorado. Richard earned a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelors from the University of Maryland. He lives in Denver with his wife, Heather.

Robert White

Susan Miller, Ph.D

She is founder of Voicetrainer, LLC, a voice and communication consulting firm in Washington, DC. where she specializes in refinement of the speaking voice, anxiety reduction, accent modification, presentation skills, and treatment of the injured voice. Susan has directed speech and hearing clinics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. For over 26 years Dr. Miller has been helping professional speakers, radio and news personalities, and entertainers maximize their impact every time they speak. Her clients include corporate executives, government officials, and international diplomats.

Susan writes and speaks about vocal power, vocal health, and communicating powerfully. She is a featured speaker for national and international organizations such as the Smithsonian Institution and the Japan Society of Logopedics and Phoniatrics. Keith McAslan

Prior to Vernon Plastics, Keith held various senior positions in Finance including: Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Imperial Wallcoverings (a Blackstone Group/Wasserstein Perella portfolio company) with $400 million in revenue; Director, Finance and Operations Support for Square D Company with $800 million in revenue; and Division Controller in Automotive Operations for Rockwell International Corporation.

Keith has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and MBA from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. His management training includes Strategic Planning at Harvard Business School; The Management Program at Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Business; and Executive French Emersion Program at Dartmouth College and Arles, France. Diane Anderson

Diane Anderson consults for Sustainable Business Group in the area of education. Diane has developed a comprehensive background in the fields of school administration, curriculum writing, educational leadership, staff development, communications, and most recently, school campus design including master planning and land development. Diane's experience in education spans over twenty four years, including teaching and program assessment for the United States Marine Corps and district work in Milwaukee Public Schools, Orange County, and Jefferson County Schools where she moved into curriculum design, staff development, and became a legislative liaison for the district and member of the Superintendent's Cabinet. Diane has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Univ. of Wisconsin as well as graduate work at C.S.U. and U.C.D.

Since 2002, Diane's focus turned to school administration in the private sector. As principal, Diane's areas of expertise expanded to instructional leadership, school management, innovative curriculum design including STEM programs, assessment, ACIS accreditation, and speaking engagements. Diane is currently working to create a Pre-K to Gray school campus on two hundred plus acres in Jefferson County that will address future energy and sustainability needs, uniting resources from the Colo. School of Mines, NREL, Redrocks Community College, and Jeffco Schools. Diane is an integral part of the leadership of this group, who after several years of meetings and research, have recently created the Jeffco Energy Education Partnership.

Sarah Martinez

Sarah MartinezResearch Consultant

Sarah Martinez is an SBG Intern from Mesa State College in Grand Junction. She will graduate in December of 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Marketing concentration and an International Studies minor. Ms. Martinez is participating in a 16-week, comprehensive Marketing Campaign project in her Promotion class, and a 14-week statistical analysis project in her Marketing Research class. The outcome of her work in the statistical analysis class will be a key factor in whether or not Mesa State College will implement a campus smoking and/or tobacco ban.

Ms. Martinez has held numerous professional positions serving as an Administrative Assistant, Office Manager, Accounting Assistant, AP Clerk, and Call Center Representative. She has been the Marketing Director for a high-volume real estate agent in New Mexico. In this position, she was able to exercise total control and responsibility over all client affairs including conflict resolution. She has excellent desktop design skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Illustrator. Ms. Martinez is the Secretary for the Mesa State College Sustainability Council, an organization promoting environmentally-conscious behavior on campus and in the community.

Ron Brinkerhoff, CHS

Ron Brinkerhoff, works for Herb Rubenstein Consulting as our website designer. Ron designs websites for SBG itself and also numerous clients of Herb Rubenstein Consulting. Ron has served our country honorably in the U.S. Navy for a period of eight years. He served as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Ron has an expertise in fire fighting. While stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore, Ron earned his Private Pilot's License, and he became a "Certified Hospitality Supervisor" from the American Hotel & Motel Lodging Association.

After Ron's tour of duty with the Navy, he enrolled in College. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at Mesa State University, and another Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from Colorado Technical University Online, with a concentration on Web Design. From January to May, 2010, Ron attended the Western colorado Peace Officer's Academy, earning both his P.O.S.T. Certification and an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. Ron tutors Physics, Psychology and Algebra, and has worked in the IT department at Mesa State University. Ron repairs computers in his spare time, and is a Security Officer for his father's security business. Ron has experience in the technology industry and the hospitality industry, and has excellent customer service skills.
